Tahawal Degga means ‘Standing for truth’ in Wolof. There is a desperate need for truth in today’s society, where fake news, propaganda, biased media, AI slop and more, attempt to influence people’s perception of social issues on a daily basis. Tahawal Degga aims to bring anti-capitalist, anti-colonial and anti-patriarchal knowledge and content to the fore through awareness-raising done both on- and offline. Musical and cultural histories of Africa and Europe, decolonial knowledge on migration as well as critical commentary of news and broader social issues are among the topics covered by Tahawal Degga’s podcasts, social media posts and sensitisation campaigns.
