Dr. Rossella Marion
She is an academic and singersongwriter. I got my PhD in Social Work and Social Welfare Studies from Ghent University in 2023 and since then I teach Social Work and Social Pedagogy Literature and Comparative Social Work in the same institution. My research revolves around the coloniality of humanitarianism and development, neoliberal global migration management as well as the sedentary bias and return migration to The Gambia. My publications have been featured in key international journals and blogs relating to migration and borders, geopolitics and coloniality. Additionally, I make music. I regularly play my original music in Brussels venues, exploring my personal journey as a Southern Italian woman living abroad as well as advancing anti-capitalist, anti-colonial and feminist messages through reggae, acoustic rock and pop tunes.
